Zoo Trip

This year the school decided to get rid of several days and do several half days.  I made it a goal to try and take the kids on some mini trips.  We invited Marijo with Quincy and Marley to go to the zoo with us.  It looked like it would be a rainy day but we ended up staying dry the whole time and there weren't any crowds.  We had a great time.

Alex is a wealth of knowledge. I guess he reads a lot of nonfiction books about animals at school because every time we looked at a different animal he would pipe up with some fact he knew like flamingos are pink because they eat shrimp.

This bear was crazy...he was pacing back and forth and looked ready to pounce on somebody.

The zoo had a great Kangaroo walk. You actually can walk on a path with the kangaroos not in cages. A little unnerving to see them lounging around knowing they could technically jump kick you any time.

The first highlight for the kids was the poopin gorilla. Unfortunately, I got it on video but I won't share it with you all. Just believe that the kids will never forget that gorilla.

Abby's favorite by far was feeding the giraffe. That girl has no fear.

Brett's favorite was the Australian birds. He hasn't stopped talking about them since. He loved feeding them nectar and having them sit on him.

These were our attempts to get a picture of all the kids. We probably should have tried to do it at the beginning of the day. :)
