Funny Story
So we are having playgroup at my house today and we have a very full house. I am watching a Sumer's son because she is trying to pack to move and then Teri calls because she is watching Jana's Logan but her daughter is home sick and wondered if Sam and Logan could come over to play. I think the more the merrier and my Logan has been dying to have Sam over. So, anyway, we hav a full house. So an hour or so later Jana's Logan comes up to me with big tears rolling down his cheeks. My first thought is that he and Sam got into a fight (Teri warned me they had been fighting with each other and would have to go home) instead he confesses to me that he swallowed a toy. Now, in preparation for playgroup I had put all k'nex and legos pieces up and vaccummed so nothing small would be out. I asked him first if he was still choking or if it had already gone down. Then I asked him what he swallowed and he couldn't think of it. I remembered seeing them all playing Operation in the boys room and asked if he had swallowed a piece of the game. He said yes. Then I asked him how it got in his mouth and he gave me the best answer ever..."I don't know." I went to go check on everything and asked him what piece he swallowed and of course he swallowed the ice cream cone becasue that had to be the best tasting one right? In the end I think he was more scared about swallowing it than anything and I told him it would be okay because he would just poop it out. He was much relieved because after all plastic ice cream cones just don't taste that good. :)

25 random things by Greg and Lindsay
We have become avid Facebookers and it has been fun to reconnect with long lost friends and kind of have an insight into what is going on in their lives. One of the fun things going around is 25 Random Things list. I got a real good kick out of Greg's but it has to be prefaced with mine first.
1. I don't generally like rereading books but the only books that I can successfully enjoy rereading are Twilight series and Harry Potter series.
2. For some reason blond women seem to intimidate me more. I know it is stereotypical and every blond person I know is really nice but I am nervous to talk to them when I first meet them. I know it is weird and not so much a problem now but still weird.
3. I have a secret obsession with Katie Holmes. I just like her and think she is an interesting person not because of the Tom Cruise stuff.
4. There are three things that make me laugh more than anything. First, weekend update on Saturday night live especially Seth...his faces are priceless and I loved all the Sarah Pallin stuff. Second, Presidential speeches on David Letterman. Bush was pricelessly inarticulate. Third, The Office. My favorite is Jim and when he put Dwight's stapler in jello. Greg had just had his nasal septum surgery and we were practically crying and he hurt so bad.
5. I have ruined two cell phones with the most unlikely culprits. I dropped one in the toilet (wasn't talking on it at the moment) and my son's saliva ruined the second.
6. I have never been in a true car accident that I can remember.
7. In highschool I could do more jumping pushups than our Student Body President.
8. I have know Greg since I was 14. He told me I had a crooked nose although I totally deny it. He also said that I secretly always wanted him when we weren't dating.
9. Lasik surgery is the best invention ever and my best investment ever.
10. My parents and in laws live down the street. My philosophy is less is more unless we are talking about how many miles to live away from everybody. I love them all but in small doses. 11. I have had three of my four children natural and would do it that way again if I was having any more. I had to join the women with epidurals with my last girl because 35 hours of labor is too long for any woman.
12. I have actually performed CPR on a person--not the mouth to mouth part since it has always been in the hospital. Lucky me huh?
13. I have actually fainted at work. I had to have an x-ray and EKG to confirm I was okay. I was holding pressure on a patient's femoral artery and slowed my breathing so much I passed out. The funny thing was a month later in the same hospital my patient warned me to be careful when I was doing the same procedure because her last nurse had fainted on her...it was me.
14. If my husband even looks at me wrong I get pregnant. I have to preface that with no pregnancies thus far have been unplanned. Is that TMI? They call me Fertile Myrtle.
15. When I was a senior in high school the principle had a private stash of cashews in his desk that he let me sneak from whenever I wanted.
16. I lived in Jerusalem for 2 months before I was married. At the same time I had some of the strangest health issues ever. They thought I had mono but it ended up being a really bad case of Bronchitis (had to treat twice with antibiotics), my ears didn't unpop fromt he plane ride for nearly the entire 2 months, and last, I got worms/bugs in my eye at Galilee and had to pick them out by hand and sleep with vaseline in my eye. I thought I was going to go blind.
17. I wanted to be Miss America when I was little along with Princess Diana and Miss USA. The funny thing was I was never very girly and never did any pageants.
18. I absolutely hate white chocolate unless it is drizzled over popcorn.
19. My mom wanted to learn how to play the harp when she was a kid so she signed me up when I was in 7th grade. I miss it now because 4 kids doesn't really lend to practicing.
20. My one regret in college was not staying on the Ballroom dance company. I think with marriage, nursing school, and working 30 hours a week I decided to let it go and I wish now I hadn't. I loved competing and performing. I finally found a style of dance I was really confident with.
21. I am a big fan of lia sophia jewelry, potterybarn, crate & Barrel, and Banana Republic.
22. I love my kids but I love having them in school. They need to be sooooo busy and school really keeps them active. My favorite things to do while they are in school are shopping, scrapbooking, sewing, hanging out with the best friends in the world, and shopping. (Did I say that twice? I think I am a shopaholic)

24. I went a different school for 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. And another new school in 10th. Junior high was awful needless to say.
25. I got shot in the chest in a drive by when I was in high school. Fortunately it was only a paint ball but it was dark and I thought I was dying.
Since I posted I thought up more things like having 12 teeth pulled, never have had any wisdom teeth, Favorite reality show is Bachelor and So You Think You Can Dance, first job was a hostess at Desert Star Playhouse, worked at the Canon Center Cafeteria adn Taco Bell at the Cougar eat for 1 month, remembered I have been in a car accident, lost our all Hawaiian Anniversary pictures on our camera, before college I was on two different modern dance company teams but didn't actually make it when I tried out, the teacher invited me to join after tryouts.
Here are Greg's 25 things...He said I wasn't allowed to edit them but I figure it is my blog an if you want the whole version you can visit him on facebook. :)

7. I have two cars that together, total almost 1,000 horsepower.
8. I’m a one-trick-pony on a wakeboard. The only trick I can land is a back roll.
9. I'm not as anti-George-dubya-Bush as most, however, the thing I'll miss most from his administration is the “Great Moments in Presidential Speeches” bit on Letterman.
10. My wife says she gets pregnant when I look at her. Now that we’ve reached our limit of 4 kids, I haven’t looked at her in over a year.
11. I’m Logan’s favorite parent.
12. I was dis-owned during the summer of ’95 when I decided to go to BYU over Yale…oops.
13. My father spent my college fund on a Mercedes several years after I was disowned…you’re welcome Dad.
14. I hate work…but like my job.
15. My favorite movie is Remember the Titans.
16. My brother calls me buttplug on facebook.
17. My mother is not allowed to converse with me on facebook, but I tagged her anyway. This does not change that rule Mom.
18. I lost 25 pounds last year.
19. I gained 10 pounds this year.
20. My wife hates guns…but she is licensed to carry…it’s a Texas thing…yeeeee haaaah.
21. I’m not obsessed with Katie Holmes.
22. I like Avril Lavigne…shhhhh (but that’s the only Angry-Girl-Music I listen to).
23. I’ve raised Lindsay since she was 13.
24. I…errr…Brett won his very first Pinewood Derby this year.
25. I got my kids a 70 mph remote control car for me this past Christmas.

Bulk Blogger
Unfortunately I am finding that I am a bulk blogger. I think this is a name I have created but it seems I don't have time to blog but I am constantly thinking of things I would like to post especially pictures. I don't want to miss a moment of my kids lives and the funny things they say and do. So I save up all the ideas and then I have to wait to get the pictures downloaded, then I can write about it all. I think with Christmas, Brett and Alex's multiple birthday parties(friends and family), New Years Eve (totally lame-went to bed early and did nothing), Brett's baptism and Abby's Blessing the next day, not to mention the visitors, my birthday, and some lia sophia parties it has been a crazy January. Here is everything we missed between the last and now. Enjoy.
Greg..I mean Brett winning the Pinewood Derby
Brett got a great introduction into Cub Scouts. There were 16 cars racing in the pinewood derby. You should have seen the botched job we did on the car 4 days before the race. I have to have my I told you so moment because I told Greg to get it done on Christmas vacation. Instead we were trying to spray paint in the rain, etc.
One week before the race Greg tried to use a jig saw to shape the car with it attached with a clamp to the barbeque grill. Not such a good idea. So next he tried sanding it to get the groove out on the top to look like a corvette (Brett designed it, Greg was just trying to match it to the drawing). Anway, Greg gave up and Brett said it was fine. I said we should get a Dremmel and do it right. (I lost for the moment). So Greg got some glossy red spray paint and went to town; and I mean went to town with that paint. It was so cold and he sprayed it so thick "So it would be glossy" that it gelled. He tried sanding between coats and even tried sanding it off but he couldn't do it. I finally got my second I told you so moment when Greg went and bought a Dremmel and sanded the tar out of that car. He got all the paint off and he shaped it too. I started painting it over the next two days (in between rain showers and freezing temperatures) and then Brett painted the lightning bolts. Greg did some extra special things with the tires and weights but we aren't revealing our secrets :) and it was done. We were all very nervous on the first race. You never know if it going to be a total dud. Brett won his first six races and he kept saying, "Isn't that amazing. My car won." What a relief to us. We made into the finals with the other two fastest cars and they had a race off. We each raced on each one of the three tracks. We took second on the first and won the second and third. We hav set the bar pretty high for ourselves by winning 1st place in our first Pinewood Derby. Greg sat down next to me and his hand was literally shaking. The funniest part about it was it appeared to everyone he was really into the whole car building thing but he wasn't really and if we hadn't spent hours messing it up it actually wouldn't have been that bad. Live and learn.

Brett's Baptsm
True confession...I was nervous. I had tried taking Brett to several friends baptisms before his own so that he would become more familiar with the events and what happened and most of all, how to behave. Let's just say he was not a star pupil previous to his own event...hence the nervousness.
My Mom did a great talk about Baptism and what the letters stand for. Alex was her helper and she really spoke to Brett. The best part was when she was concluding that he would become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he said it with her and then JINXED her at the end of her talk. When Greg performed the ordinance of Baptism Brett made it all the way under but not before he had a chance to grab his nose. Lucky he didn't come up sputtering.
Next my Dad gave a talk about the Holy Ghost but as a lead in he was asking Brett if he knew what gift God was going to give him. Brett kept interrupting with Jesus. (Perfect Sunday School answer). He was very dear and when we got home he asked me about the warm special feeling he wasn't having while he changed his clothes. We discussed how the Holy Ghost made him feel special about the choice he was making to be baptized and that the Holy Ghost would always be his companion as long as he made good choices. I explained that we aren't always going to feel the special feeling every moment of everyday but it will be there when we pray and when we need help or to feel his peace. I feel like each day that I get to teach him more about the blessings of this church, I get strengthened. I hope that I can help him develop his testimony.
We were especially fortunate to have my parents and my Dad's parents and sister Karin there for the event. How many people can say their child's great grandparents made an effort to fly 1 1000 miles to come to a baptism and a blessing. We had a great time hosting them all at our house. Logan really bonded with Grandpa Great.

Amazing Jake's
A new place called Amazing Jake's opened in the mall last May or so. It is an indoor arcade with all you can eat pizza buffet, games, rides, laser tag, rock climbing, go cart, bumper cars, and mini golf. Reminds me of the 49th Street Galleria except that everything is included with a birthday and you get fed too. I promised Brett because it was a special birthday i.e. turning 8 I would let him do a birthday party there. I sneakily decided to do it over Christmas vacation so that I would not have as many people to watch over (and pay for...yes, I am selfish and actually wanted to hit the lower limit of required guests). Funny thing was for all my selfishness, I was still inviting people the morning of the party because nobody could come. It turned into a half Alex birthday party and half Brett which was fine because we all had a fun time. It also helped that I could have Greg there to help with kids. It was great! we had unlimited access to food and rides all day. Most kids left after 3 hours but Greg and I stayed with the boys and rode the go-carts. We were there for 5 1/2 hours. Needless to say we were exhausted.
Here is my second attempt at a race car fondant cake. I think this one turned out more like a race car than the truck one for Alex. I seriously want to take some classes. I have discovered I like baking more than cooking.
