Brett's Honor and My Bragging Moment
Brett was chosen by his teacher and 3 other girls to be invited to the National Youth Scholar Program for this summer. It is a huge honor and we are very proud of him. It sounds like a thrilling and fun experience except that it is so far away from home that he can't attend the day sessions, and he's not ready to stay in the dorms at the university. Hopefully he can do something similar in the future but I am really proud of my smart little boy.

Missing Summer
Poor Abby is missing summer. Every weekend she says she wants to go on the boat. Soon Darling soon.

p.s. I love Photobucket. Usually I go and turn all my pictures right side up before I download them to photobucket because it is harder to edit them in photobucket. Well guess what??? They changed it, you download them and they automatically adjust it for you. Yea! What a time saver.

Wintery Mix

It's been fun to have snow in North Carolina. Not so much to miss 4 days of school but the first day we went sledding at our friends house (first time ever). Suzette took pictures from me so I will add them to this when I get them. The kids had a blast! Abby still doesn't care for the snow but she let me hold her the whole time. The second day we tried to make a snowman but the late night sleet made the snow freeze on the top layer. Instead I made the kids sleds out of a huge box and they slid down the hill behind our house. It was quite funny and loud to have cardboard on ice.
Sweetness
I love having a gas fireplace with logs. We had gas in our last house but no logs so we never used it. That and we had to use matches to light it. At our new house it is simply a flip of a switch. Although Brett is our fire hater, he doesn't mind the fireplace behind glass and mesh. He cuddles up on the floor with a big body pillow and of course Abby has to be right there next to him.
Fondue and Fun
Here are the pictures to prove that we did something fun for New Years Eve. We had the Tom, Suzette, Marijo and Reed over with kids. Can you see cute little Quincy with her pink hat. I love it!

The kids played Don't Eat Pete, the candy bar game, and then we all played Whoopee! It was a great group to do it with because we were all highly competitive. Some of the special prizes included a giraffe covered hand massager, keebler snack food stashes, and gourmet popcorn. We had a great time with a dinner of steak, chicken, shrimp, and vege fondue fry and then caramel fondue for dessert. I think this is going to be a tradition.

Abby and Brett
As Abby started pulling Brett by the finger for another lap of chase around the kitchen table he states "SMS-Save My Soul." I guess being his sister's favorite has a price.
