Soccer

Of my kids sports I cannot deny that my favorite game to watch is my oldest.  Brett's games are competitive and exciting and since he has been having fairly good seasons they are fun.  Today is the first game I missed this year because it is COLD! But, I am proud to announce Brett made his very first goal ever!  That's pretty hard considering he is in the 10-12 year old age group and that is pretty competitive and he prefers to play defense.  I am so happy for him.  I wish I could capture his smile.  Priceless!

Mother of the Year Moment

I totally deserve it today.  I am standing faithfully at my children's bus stop with Abby when I have no children emerging from the bus.  Suddenly I realize that I told them all to meet me in the front office because I had a speech meeting for Logan.  Oops.  Not good when you have a high stressed kid that doesn't do well when you change the plan on him.  Thankfully, I ran home, called the office to tell them I was on my way and none of the kids were mad at me when I walked in 2 minutes later.  Actually, Alex guessed that I was going to forget and then run in late.  So predictable!

First Utah Trip 2nd Week

My mom and I took the kids to the Aquarium in Utah. They had a great time.  Abby couldn't get enough of the sting rays. She desperately wanted to pet them but didn't get her hand in deep enough.  Photobucket

The boys took a pretend boat ride. :)

We loved loved loved the penguins!  Alex spent the entire time spouting off information he has read in books about all the different fish, sharks, and penguins.  He is a wealth of knowledge especially for odd facts.

We also had a great time trying to convince all the kids to put their fingers on the electric eel simulator. Alex thought it was "awesome" and Brett was really proud of himself for finally doing it before we left. We also loved the exhibit of the superhero insects and reptiles including glow in the dark insets and other super bugs.

We had fantastic get together with my college roommates. Even though Natalie was in town she couldn't make it but Keni, Holly, and Mindy were there minus Mindy's family. It was great fun for the kids too.

Later in the week I took the kids to the Dinosaur Museum with Liz and Teri and kids. We had a great time even though Abby wasn't feeling very well.
My kids were so happy to see their long lost Texas family. I am so greatful that they have those friendships.   We watched them clean fossils.

We put together huge magentic puzzles.

We played in the water zone although Abby wasn't enjoying it too much.

We ran away from Monster sharks.
Photobucket
We dug for bones.

And we enjoyed the beauty of the sunshine and Utah warmth minus humidity.

This is about the time Abby stopped feeling good and fell asleep curled up in her stroller.

I was a good wife too and let Greg plan a get together with his highschool friends. It was great to catch up with everybody.

We had a fun outdoor backyard adventure at Jeff and Kim's house with all the cousins. Brett was so nervous about driving the four wheelers but after a few times around we were trying to slow him down.

Abby had a serious introduction to the art of dress ups while we were staying at my mom's house. She wore that little purple number about everyday. She is my little princess and loves to accessorize.
Photobucket
She thought she was Rapunzel and loved her rapunzel hair.
Photobucket
Logan wanted in on the action and asked my mom to make him his own crown. When we went back to Utah for our second trip she had a new fancy shmancy one for him.

We also got to hang out with a pregnant Becca minus Andrew since he was in Dallas on his internship.
Photobucket
And the night before we left was a party at my mom's parents house.

A  couple of nights before we left Abby woke up in the middle of the night screaming about "Monkeys in her bed".  I reassured her but had to repeat myself 3 times during the night.  The next morning she vividly remembered the monkeys in her bed and has since spent months talking about the monkeys in grandmas crib and that she doesn't like them so we have to make sure they aren't there when we go back.  She has got quite the imagination and memory.

First Trip to Utah-First Week

Warning this will probably be massive.
I don't know about Greg but this was a great trip for the kids and me. Greg golfed everyday so I guess he was happy but I got to see some good friends.
I spent an entire day with Liz and her family when my kids were at Lagoon. We hung out at her cute new house and played in the park in her backyard. Oh how I have missed my Texas friends. I realized I was a little jealous because she's going to get everybody visiting her.

Thanks to Chase for the up close picture.

Day 2- I got a much needed hair cut. I am desperately missing Charles and as you can see from the length of my hair I hadn't cut it since we moved.
Photobucket
Day ??-I planned a quick McDonalds lunch with all of our high school friends. I am so lame and didn't get any pictures of us or the kids. I was just so excited to see everybody. Mindy, Lana, and Carrie came. The added bonus was the free face painting.

Next up was a barbeque with my Dad's side of the family. We had a great time visiting with everyone and cousin Jonathon kept all the kids entertained with his many impressions. He has some fantastic Russian, German, English, and Australian accents.

Day ???-We also celebrated Father's Day with my mom's side of the family. Grandma, Grandpa and Great Aunt Lue Ann were all there.

We made a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting for Grandpa and then realized we hadn't made my dad's favorite dessert so my mom and I whipped up a pecan pie from scratch. It was quite the adventure trying to keep it a secret when my dad was getting mad at us for putting butter in with the ice when we were trying to fit the pie crust in the freezer.

End of year (as in last June) :)

Logan received a special award from the principal at the end of the school year for his outstanding progress in his speech therapy. We are all about celebrating the small stuff. :)
Photobucket
Brett's class had a party where they played a game where they had to open candy with socks on their hands and a ski hat on their heads. They had to do it quick cuz when somebody else rolled a doubles it was their turn. Pretty funny to watch.
Photobucket
Photobucket
They also did a candy sling shot in the field.
Photobucket
They also bear hugged their cute "little" teacher.
Photobucket
Brett had a fantastic year although it was strange being in a 4th/5th grade combo class. His teacher loved him and was amazed at his precision, creativity, and his neat handwriting.
Photobucket
By the way, it was crazy hair day in case any of you thought we did his hair like that on purpose...he was pretty proud of his "long" hair.
Logan's class also had a party for parents where they put on a little show to the tune of New York New York. It was very cute especially when Abby announced to the entire class she needed to go poop.

Unfortunately, Alex didn't have a parent party so no pics. :(
